I love this store and it has always been a nice part of Wassenaar. But what has happened today made me feel really uncomfortable and highlighted the issues of the personnel in the store. My 5 year old was happy to go and pick a present at HEMA and then she urgently needed to go to a toilet. I asked an employee who did not know what to do and he asked a supervisor. The answer was shocking - first you need to buy something! My daughter was jumping from one leg to the other while the shop attendant was “following the procedure” and making me pay and giving me the 50 cents to enter the toilet. I am really shocked about this attitude in what I thought was a very warm child friend town. Please be human.

I had a very unpleasant experience in the Hema today. I was clothes shopping with two young children I babysit, one of whom is recently potty trained, and he said he needed to use the bathroom. I didn’t have a 50 cent coin with me to pay for the toilet so I went to the counter to ask if I could buy a coin with my bank card, and the staff member said that I needed to buy something first. I was very much planning on making purchases but we hadn’t picked which clothes to buy yet and with a toddler, time is of the essence; it was quite an emergent situation. I told her I would even pay extra for her trouble and she refused to make this transaction, even going so far as to laugh at us for even asking. Thank goodness for the kind older women beside us in line who gave us the 50 cents and we just made it to the bathroom just in time. I wanted to give the staff member the benefit of the doubt, as maybe there was a language barrier or some sort of very strict store policy preventing her from helping us, but I can’t help but feel like there was a lot more that could have been done to help out. Needless to say, we took our business elsewhere.

Very beautiful store . Nice workers , nice products . Also good quality of coffee and cheaper than other places . The manager is very nice . The only bad thing that they close early .

I was in wassenaar with my son to visit family. I was early so reluctantly went shopping (don't really enjoy the process) , just needed a couple of things.. I am usually in and out as quick as possible.. but we ended up spending an whole hour in there.. it just felt great. Excellent customer (and human) experience. Very helpful staff with great customer care. The manager is amazing and clearly understands leadership. I ll be back 😉👍🏼 Abdel A. Belgium

A good branch of Hema with an impressive selection of items (even curtain ordering). Cafe area serves hot food and drinks, and a grocery section is also present. Good staff levels so lines at checkout are usually very short - can reliably just nip in and out if you have a specific item in mind.

HEMA has most of the things your are looking for. But often you have to look in another store to find the thing you need. The budget is amazing and they sell lots of stuff.
